Mr. & Mrs. Saylor | A Dreamy, Rainy April Wedding at Oxbow Brewing Co. in Portland, Maine
April in Maine has a way of keeping everyone on their toes, and Ally and Rich’s wedding day was no exception — but as so often happens, the unexpected moments became some of the most meaningful ones. This gorgeous wedding at Oxbow Brewing Co. in Portland Maine was one to remember.
Ally and Rich, now Mr. and Mrs. Saylor, began their wedding day getting ready with their closest people at the AC Marriott Downtown Hotel in Portland, Maine. When we arrived to document the morning, the rain was absolutely pouring. Soaking rain, the kind that leaves you laughing as you wipe water off your camera bag — but also the kind that reminds you this day is going to be real, unscripted, and memorable.
A Rainy Start & A Flexible Plan
Because of the downpour, we adjusted plans slightly, keeping everyone dry while still capturing everything that mattered. The couple’s first look, along with family portraits and bridal party photos, all took place inside the hotel lobby. The modern, clean lines of the space paired beautifully with the emotion of those moments — proof that meaningful photos don’t require perfect weather, just genuine connection.
There was something especially intimate about seeing Ally and Rich share their first look indoors, tucked away from the chaos of the storm outside, focused solely on each other.
Oxbow Brewing Co. & A Pause Before “I Do”
As the day progressed, the rain finally gave us a break. The clouds held off just long enough for everyone to travel to Oxbow Brewing Co. in Portland, Maine, where the couple and their closest friends enjoyed some relaxed downtime before the ceremony.
In a private sitting room, glasses clinked, laughter flowed, and the energy shifted from anticipation to celebration. It was a quiet, joyful pause before the next chapter of the day began.
A Ceremony Full of Meaning
The ceremony took place on a stage inside Oxbow’s reception space, softly lit and surrounded by loved ones. Ally and Rich exchanged vows with everyone close enough to truly feel the moment, ending the ceremony with a traditional breaking of the glass — a powerful, joyful close met with cheers and applause.
Toasts, Dancing & A Night to Remember
From there, the night unfolded exactly as a wedding should. The Saylors ate, drank, danced, and laughed their way through the evening, surrounded by friends and family who clearly adore them.
Heartfelt and tearjerking toasts gave way to laughter as hilarious stories, nicknames, and shared memories had the entire room giggling. One of the most touching moments came when the bride’s two young nieces bravely took the microphone to officially welcome Rich as their uncle — a moment that felt as sweet as it was unforgettable.
As the DJ kept the dance floor packed, the celebration carried on late into the night, filled with movement, music, and the kind of joy that lingers long after the last song ends.
A Perfectly Imperfect Maine Wedding Day
Rain-soaked beginnings, flexible plans, and a room full of love — Ally and Rich’s wedding day was a beautiful reminder that it’s not about perfection. It’s about people, presence, and celebrating fully, no matter what the weather brings.
