When the Layton family reached out about Bar Harbor photography during their vacation in Maine, I couldn’t have anticipated how special this session would become. Just days after a hurricane swept through their Florida hometown, they kept their plans to visit Acadia National Park – a testament to their adventurous spirit. With mom seven months pregnant and their two excited kids in tow, they were determined to make lasting memories.

We met at sunset near Otter Cliffs, where the evening light painted Acadia’s rugged coastline in soft golds. Between shots, they shared stories of exploring Bar Harbor’s charming streets and their day trip on a whale watch boat earlier that day. The children’s eyes lit up exploring their surroundings.

What struck me most was how the Layton embraced every moment, despite the challenges they’d faced back home, the illness that the kids and mom had on the flight to Maine, the strong winds during their session and the youngest kiddo not enjoying the Maine temperatures after a long day with no nap. Their photos reflect this beautiful spirit – genuine smiles set against Acadia’s landscapes, capturing both intimate family moments and sweeping coastal views.

These images serve as more than just vacation memories; they’re a testament to this growing family’s resilience and their ability to find joy in any circumstance.
